AURORA – Funeral arrangements are being created for the 16-year-old boy who succumbed to his injuries last week after he was swept away down Sand Creek in Aurora.

Abraham Vazquez fell in to the creek last Thursday. Investigators say the present dragged him a lot more than 120 yards.

Rescuers had been able to pull Vazquez from a grass island in the middle of the creek. He passed away the subsequent morning at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

“I have the best memories of him,” his mother Celia Monte-Negro told 9NEWS on Monday. “Abraham was the finest kid ever.”

Monte-Negro says Abraham was the type of kid who acted far more like an adult. When Monte-Negro lost her job, Abraham identified one selling ice-cream on the weekends so he could help support his household. Monte-Negro had five children.

“He would always come to me and tell me, ‘Here’s the cash, Mom,’ and I would say, ‘No, it’s your income,’” she stated.

Abraham would ultimately convince her to take it.

“He loved his family members,” Monte-Negro stated.

Abraham would never tell his mother “no.” She says he would usually listen to her. Monte-Negro says she was surprised when Abraham went down to the creek after she told him he wasn’t allowed to.

“The water was running so quick and it was so deep,” she said.

When rescuers pulled her son to shore, she was able to catch a fast glimpse of him.

“His arm fell,” she said. “He took in so significantly water he looked bloated.”

Abraham was rushed to the hospital and spent most of the night hooked up to machines.

As Monte-Negro stood there holding her son’s hand, she prayed he would recover. 5 minutes later, he passed away.

“That’s the best factor I’ve ever had: 16 years with him,” she stated.

Monte-Negro does not have significantly cash. She and her family members are struggling to pay for Abraham’s funeral. If you would like to assist, a fund has been set up at Wells Fargo under Abraham Vazquez’s name.
